Blackberry Curve 8520

Maxis recently introduced their newest plan, which is the prepaid blackberry services for personal use. I’ve been waiting for this service for ages. And now they came up with this prepaid plan, I’ve decided to join the bandwagon as well.

What Maxis offers is the new Blackberry Curve 8520 for RM1199 (prepaid) and less if you opted for the postpaid plan. Prepaid data plan is a bit different from postpaid in the sense of the data allocation per month. For prepaid, data allocation per month is 1.5Gb (for BIS Monthly Premium), 50Mb (for BIS Weekly Premium), 100Mb (for BIS Messaging) and 100Mb (for BIS Social). And you have to pay RM98/month for BIS Monthly Premium, RM28/week for BIS Weekly Premium, RM28/month for BIS Messaging and RM28/month for BIS Social.

Celcom is offering almost the same service but with different plans. Their plans are mainly targeted to the teens. Currently, Celcom only offers two prepaid plans: Blackberry Social (only social and messaging apps only for RM1/day “unlimited” data capped at 1Gb/day) and Blackberry Advance 2.5G (all BIS services for RM2.50/day for “unlimited” data capped at 1Gb/day). The plans are more delicious than Maxis’. Read more here.

A note to Maxis: Why the hell you’re offering only 1.5Gb data per month for RM98 whilst Celcom can offer 1Gb data PER DAY for RM75/month (RM2.50 X 30 days)? Unless you’ll review your plans, I’m moving to Celcom next month.
