My Tech to-do list…
I have wanted to do all these things, but it seems that I have been delaying it for some years now. Not that I don’t want to do it, but something else is always in the way (yeah, right!). Things like:
- Converting all my old cassette tapes (still remember that?) into digital format (if possible, lossless MP3). And also converting all my movies in video tapes (VHS) into DVDs;
- Converting all the music in my MiniDiscs to MP3s;
- Changing my trusty CRT-based 29″ TV to the latest 42″ LED LCD TV (this will cost me a lot of money!);
- Using all the functions in my BlackBerry;
- Backing up all my digital photos (they’re everywhere!);
- Scanning all my paper-based photographs (some of ‘em are very old and reddish) into JPEG and so some photo cleaning;
- Thinking of installing a digital doorbell (with the one-way camera) at my front door (so that I don’t have to open the door to see who’s coming);
- Installing a DVD player in my car (long journeys are sooooo boring nowadays);
- Getting a higher capacity removable drive, so that I can put all my MP3s and MP4 movies in one place.
Well, I might do the ones that require the least amount of money, as I’m terribly skint now.

BPL: Man City 0-0 Liverpool
Liverpool played a very uninspiring game today at Eastlands. Six yellow cards were given to Liverpool and was lucky to get away with a point, as Man City played an attacking game. If not for Liverpool’s defenders, the score would be different now.
Liverpool players are at fault today. They are slow in chasing loose balls (passing is almost a lost art) and quite a high number of lost possessions.
- Torres is fielded in the 75th minutes, but can barely make any difference. He looks slow and probably only 80% fit;
- Lucas is not himself today;
- Gerrard is slow;
- Babel is Babel (time to sell him);
- Skrtel is at his best;
- Benayoun is not fully fit yet.
It looks difficult to get to the 4th spot, let alone maintaining it.
Highlights of the game here.

Europa: Liverpool 1-0 Unirea Urziceni
David Ngog finally scores, but in the wrong league. I personally thinks that Ngog should have scored more in the BPL. Nevertheless, scoring against a heavily defending team like Unirea is worth a salute, especially it’s an important goal for Liverpool to have some cushion coming in to the 2nd leg at Bucharest next week. The fighting spirit and patience are worth a mention too, since The Reds is playing without the key striker and right back.
But I’m sad to see Liverpool struggling in the second rated European tournament, and being in this situation because of a missing key player (Torres) is evident that something is wrong in the setup of the whole team.
Watch the goal here.

Too spoilt for choices?
I was at HUKM recently when I came across this bookcase full of medical leaflets at the nearby pharmacy. I used to ignore these literatures before as I’m not yet in the position to read any of them (read: in denial). But since I had accepted the fact that I had grown older (but not wiser), I think it’s time for me to check out these medical leaflets.
I thought I only needed one or two of ‘em, but when I looked at the titles, I felt that I need to bring the bookcase home. Titles like these are quite scary:
- All you need to know about osteoporosis;
- Stop smoking! Your family depends on it;
- What you don’t know about obesity;
- Gout: The silent killer?;
- Take care of your heart.
- Pregnancy: The dos and don’ts.
What can I say? I’m taking all the leaflets home.

Maxis to Celcom (MNP), again…
I’ve decided to change telco from Maxis to Celcom solely because Celcom offers a better Blackberry prepaid plan. Maxis charged me RM98/month for their Blackberry services while Celcom only asked me to pay RM2.50/day (that’s rm75/month). That’s a good reason to return to Celcom.
And since January 2010, Celcom has this “Celcom Sale”, where call charges are slashed by 50%, MMS by 50% and free BlackBerry access on weekends (until end of March 2010). Well, I’ve saved RM10 a month for my BB access already!
I just got to know that Digi offers their BB service for RM58/month, but must be on their postpaid plan. WTF? Shall I move to Digi next? But I hates postpaids. And Digi, so to speak.
Therefore to all my family and friends, I am officially back on Celcom, again. If you’re on Celcom, please put me in your 8pax/15pax list for cheaper call/SMS rates.

BPL: Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool
Liverpool failed to capitalise on Arsenal’s bad run in the BPL, when they gone down 0-1. Ngog is still uninspiring as ever, losing a lot of balls and unable to create a genuine charge to challenge Almunia. In fact, with Kuyt playing deep down, there’s basically no one to even tried and test the off-form keeper. How sad it that? Torres, we’re missed you! We badly need a striker with your calibre!
See the only goal here.

Torres’ Nike T90
Liverpool’s Fernando Torres kicked start the Nike T90 Laser III football boots promotion with a nationwide campaign in Malaysia. His posters are everywhere promoting the boots. I’ve seen the boots in person and I think it’s a technological marvel. A lot of thoughts and technology went into the making of the boots, while making it useful for all kind of players. Particularly the boots are made for forward and midfield players and given the nature of the boots, it is suitable for players like Torres and Rooney, whose prowess in search of goal opportunities are legendary.
When compared to the previous T90 Laser II, there are obvious differences between the two versions. The newer Laser III has a new swerve fin technology and instep pods for kicking accuracy, shape correction foam, lighter weight material, a new lacing system and an updated sockliner.
You can check out more about the boots here.
